Legionella – jak się przed nią chronić?
Legionella spędza w ostatnim czasie sen z powiek Polaków. Z początku największe obawy odczuwali mieszkańcy podkarpacia, dziś kolejne ogniska bakterii są potwierdzone także w województwach wielkopolskim, małopolskim i lubelskim.
Czym jest legionella?
Legionella to bakteria żyjąca w środowisku wodnym. Lubi mokre, ciemne i brudne miejsca.
Bakterie potrafią przeżyć w temperaturze wody od 0-63°C. Optymalne warunki rozwoju to 20-50°C. Giną powyżej 65-70°C.
W jaki sposób możemy zarazić się legionellozą?
Legionellą nie można zarazić się poprzez kontakt z drugim człowiekiem, tak jak to miało miejsce w przypadku covid-19. Nie powinno dojść do zakażenia także poprzez picie wody z kranu. W przypadku legionellozy groźne jest powietrze, w którym jest rozpylona skażona woda. Niebezpieczne mogą być zbiorniki wodne, jak np. jacuzzi, ale także prysznice, fontanny czy klimatyzacja.
Dlaczego legionella jest groźna?
Wdychanie rozpylonej wody, w której znajduje się legionella może powodować groźne zapalenie płuc, a nawet sepsę. Choroba może przyjąć także łagodniejszy przebieg – z gorączką, dreszczami, bólami głowy i kaszlem. Objawy legionellozy są mało charakterystyczne. Można je pomylić chociażby z grypą. Ciężkiemu przebiegowi towarzyszy ból w klatce piersiowej i trudności w oddychaniu.
Jak chronić się przed zakażeniem?
- Dbać o higienę instalacji wodnych np. przeczyścić kran przed użyciem.
- Warto spłukiwać wodę przez kilka minut, aby wypłukać kran czy prysznic od wewnątrz i odczekać aż rozpylona woda opadnie, przed jego użyciem.
- Spuszczać wodę w toalecie przy zamkniętej desce.
- Unikać przebywania blisko fontann, w jacuzzi czy klimatyzowanych pomieszczeniach.
